Hi my name is Paul I'm from Wisconsin. I am writing this to tell you about a sharpening stone I found while we were going through some of my father -in- law's stuff. I came across a red and white box and on this box it said Norton Abrasives Safety Blade Hone VS1. After I opened the box I found a sharpening stone for razor blades. A v shaped stone that’s very smooth.
I contacted the Norton Company for their help to find out when these stones were made. Well I had them stumped for a day. They found in their old archives a catalog with them in it. My wife said she can remember her dad shaving with the old safety razor, the kind you used to turn open and change the blades. Well, this is what the stone was for, sharpening those blades. Money was tight in those days and every penny helped. Her dad used to say: "If you can’t build it or make it you don’t need it."
Knowing her father, he used these stones for more than just his razor blades. He was the type of man that could do or make anything. He would never buy something that did not have lots of purpose for it. Well it goes to show what a quality product can do for a company like Norton. The stones are still here and so is Norton. Here is the ad from the catalog and some pictures I took.
